An exciting opportunity now exists for an aspiring, talented, and experienced Sector Estates Manager to join a high performing and forward thinking Estates and Facilities operation which manages a large NHS Estates Portfolio and all relevant services across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
We are seeking a candidate who can provide strategic direction, professional and technical leadership in the planning and provision of all NHS GGC Estates services across clinical and non clinical services which include hospitals, health centres, clinics, dental surgeries and office accommodation etc.
Comfortable working in a complex and challenging healthcare environment you will be professionally accountable for all aspects of estates maintenance strategy delivery. Linking with the Senior Management Teams, you will have an active role to ensure Estates and Energy services and strategies within your designated operational sector is provided, operated and maintained to comply with statutory requirements. This includes the needs of NHS GGC, Health Facilities Scotland (HFS) and the Scottish Government.
You will coordinate effective recruitment, management and development of NHS GGC's operational estates staff ensuring clear roles, responsibilities and accountability are in place to provide value for money, comply with standing Financial Instructions, KPI's statutory and mandatory professional standards.
Reporting to and working closely with the General Manager (Facilities) & General Manager (Estates) the successfully appointed candidate will participate in the development of the Operational Estates Strategy for NHS GGC along with its alignment to the Board's Clinical and Property Strategy which will also involve working closely with the Board's Capital and Property Management team. The role will also include participation in developing effective national Strategies and Policies for Operational Estates and Environmental matters and will represent NHS GGC on National and Regional projects as delegated by the General Manager (Estates).
Your experience for this role will demonstrate a significant track record of success operating at Senior Management level in a facilities management (FM) structure along with operational experience gained within a complex building services environment. The ability to operate and influence externally on a range of regional and national projects are further requisites of the job. Experience of operating as part of a senior management team in a large and complex public sector environment would be particularly welcome.
You will have detailed and extensive knowledge of Health & Safety Legislation particularly that relevant to the Estates function and have a demonstrable record of achievement in delivering organisational targets and objectives. You will possess specialist knowledge and experience of financial, strategic and operational development associated with an estates and facilities functions in a large complex service led organisation.
It goes without saying that that the successful candidate will possess personal and professional credibility, an aptitude for strategic thinking along with proven and effective leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work well under pressure. You will be enthusiastic with the drive and vision to move the Estates service forward.
The successful candidate will be qualified estates construction / engineering professionals able to demonstrate proven experience and knowledge of working within a large and complex Estates & Facilities environment. Applicants for the post must hold a relevant degree level qualification BEng(Hons) or BSc(Hons) Degree in engineering, building services engineering, construction or approved equivalent training (or be in the process of working towards this qualification) and you must hold Corporate Membership of a recognised professional organisation, Chartered Engineer (C Eng) (BIFM, CIBSE, RICS or HCIMA)
