We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated colleague to join the friendly dynamic department of General Paediatrics within Dr Gray's Hospital. The Department is managed as part of the Combined Child Health Service for NHS Grampian, with strong professional and clinical links together with Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital. Within this redesigned post, the appointee will provide General and Tertiary Community Paediatrics in Elgin to assess and manage children with Neurodisability and developmental disorders as well as be involved in developing existing services in Grampian to create a vibrant new service for the children of Moray. Opportunities exist for the successful candidate to access additional training in Community Child Health. Candidates must be innovative and demonstrate leadership skills which will support the development of pathways and continuous improvement within the service, to help provide the best possible care to our patients.
NHS Grampian provides healthcare services to children living in Grampian, Orkney and Shetland, with Dr Gray's Hospital located in the cathedral city of Elgin, which has a population of 20,000 within the county of Moray (total population 85,000). It is set in an area of outstanding beauty with a milder climate than other parts of the North-East coast. The area offers an excellent quality of life and access to a wide range of recreational opportunities from the shores and waters of the Moray Firth to the mountains of upper Speyside. Industries in the area include textiles, agriculture, tourism and distilling. There is one RAF and one Army base offering substantial local employment. Inverness Airport, 30 miles west, has regular flights to London, but also to the Outer Isles and the Northern Isles. There are regular railway services to Aberdeen and Inverness. Many new housing developments have taken place within Elgin and surrounding villages providing a wide choice of housing within easy commuting distance. There are excellent schools within Elgin and surrounding villages including state schools but also the renowned Gordonstoun private school.
The postholder will join four Consultants to contribute to General Paediatric and level 1 Neonatal care on-call services, Consultant of the week rota and undertake General Paediatric clinics. Responsibilities for duties such as ward rounds, continuing care, administration, teaching, audit and research will be shared with the incumbent Consultants as appropriate.
This post is designated as full time, currently 10 programmed activities per week. However, other more flexible arrangements such as part time, job share etc will be favourably considered.

Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from date of interview or eligibility for specialist registration (CESR).
