Salaried GP - Isle Of Mull
Location:  Isle Of Mull Grade:  Salried GP
Category:  Medical & Dental Salary:  Circa 90,000 to 100,00
Contract:  Permanent Duration:
Region:  Highland Hours: 40
Job type: FullTime Date posted:  16 Jan 2017
Ref:  MS17.16.39/SHOW Closing date:  31 Jul 2017
Mull is Argyll's largest Hebridean Island with a vibrant community, extraordinary cultural heritage and stunning environment. It is 45 minutes by ferry from the town of Oban on the mainland. Ferries run frequently on a daily basis.

The population of 3,100 has traditionally been served by three small medical practices, two on the east coast of the island and one on the west covering the Ross of Mull and Iona.

Working closely with the community, the overall vision is to develop Extended Primary Care Team to provide health care across the island. GPs would be at the heart of this team delivering services from the established sites on the island. This would be in two phases; the first phase is to bring together the two practices on the East Coast, Tobermory and Salen surgeries into one practice working from the two sites. The second phase would be to bring the Surgery in Bunessan in 2018 to form one whole island practice. In order to achieve our aim we are looking to appoint GP's who are enthusiastic and committed to providing services that are outcome focused with services being based around local neighborhoods. All sites use the Vision PCS clinical system. Two of the sites are dispensing practices.

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated GPs to join the team and develop the service. The post will include a commitment to provide Out Of Hours care, weekdays only, and cover the Community Hospital A&E service and three in-patient beds. This commitment would be on a 1:4 basic rota Monday to Thursday. Accommodation is available on the island for successful applicants. The salary includes payment for on-call and car allowance.

The posts will initially be for 6 months or one year to allow successful applicants to explore and/or negotiate an independent 17C (PMS) QOF free contract with NHS Highland. This process will be supported by a Business Transformation Team who will work to ensure effective integration of the primary care services. There will be an induction programme with a Personal Needs Assessment and subsequent full training and educational support.
